Birthday of Henry David Thoreau: "National Simplicity Day 2024"

“The life that men praise and regard as successful is but one kind.”

-Henry David Thoreau

Thoreau had worked as house servant and had also

owned and operated a school;

he thought it nothing to be made a servant for his intellectual pier Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Writing on his river travels, he remarked that so many people would be spared a life of worry and bother if they simply learned to chop wood instead of learning to read.

“Be wary of any work that requires new clothes…”

Henry David Thoreau

"in everyone it is the same God at work..." -how do we see the work of God in others?

You make springs gush forth in the valleys;

they flow between the hills,

giving drink to every wild animal;

the wild asses quench their thirst.

By the streams the birds of the air have their habitation;

they sing among the branches.

From your lofty abode you water the mountains;

the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.

-Psalm 104

"There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work."

1 Corinthians 12:5-6

May we all be vessels of God's love, grace, and peace, shining His light in the world and bringing hope and blessings to those around us.

May we be guided by His Spirit and used for His purposes, to the glory of His name!

So, in everyone it is the same God at work. And even in our unique gifts, we can each recognize God's hand at work in and through each of us, in ourselves, and our efforts....

How do we begin to recognize God's work in others?

Ask yourself: "What might God be accomplishing through this person?"

Hear their testimonies, struggles, and experiences. You might discover how God has been guiding, protecting, or transforming them.

Share in their struggles: Discover how God is sustaining them in difficult times and using those struggles to shape their character.

Explore their experiences: Learn how God has transformed their lives, and how they are now using those experiences to serve others.

As we recognize God's work in others, we begin to see the bigger picture – a tapestry of lives woven together by the Master Weaver Himself. And in that recognition, we find unity, encouragement, and a deeper appreciation for the diverse ways God works in and through His people.

Love yourself, sometimes, at some point.

Remember, seeking validation outside yourself is like trying to fill a void that only you can fill.

Outside validation is like junk food for the soul - it may give you a temporary high, but it soon wears off, leaving you craving more.

True fulfillment comes from within. Let's work on building self-love, self-worth, and self-acceptance.

You are enough, just as you are.

Amor Vincit Omna: Mercy Hope and Love, and a word about the support of working professional in the business community.

NOT shame on you; you probably torture yourself enough as it is, but instead shame on anything that gets between you and #TheLoveOfGod.

#Mercy for those who need forgiveness

#Hope for a brighter tomorrow

Love that conquers all.

When individuals suffer, they often fall into a cycle of self-blame and negativity. Pity and mercy on the sufferer that blames himself! But as an outsider, you have the power to interrupt this pattern by sharing love, support, and positivity, helping to break the cycle and reach the person in a profound way.

As working professionals, we're constantly striving to build legacies that last. But let's take a moment to reflect on the bigger picture. 'He has put eternity into man's hand...' We may not be able to fully grasp the beginning and end, but we can focus on creating value that transcends time.
Let's work to build careers that stand the test of time, that make a lasting impact on our teams, customers, and communities. Let's chase excellence, innovation, and purpose, knowing that our efforts are a part of something much larger than ourselves. And let's not forget to shepherd the next generation of leaders, equipping them to carry the torch and continue our legacy.

"I have seen the business that God has given to the sons of men to be busy with.  He has made everything beautiful in its time; also He has put eternity into man's hand, yet so that man cannot discern still the beginning and end."(Ecclesiastes 3)

Wisdom of the saints/steady progress/adventure into struggle.
